Yoko Loftis (b.1983 Japan) was born and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. At the age of 19, she moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma where she attended  St. Gregory's University with a focus on traditional drawing and painting. In 2006 she graduated and received her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts (BFA)

After graduation, she collaborated with author Sharon Davis to illustrate the children’s’ book "Legend of the Reindeer Shoes." She continued her career by painting murals for local business' as well as teaching classes in drawing and painting for local art galleries.

Yoko stays busy keeping up with her two children Hugh and Naomi, she is a black belt in Taekwondo and when she is not painting she enjoys spending her time training martial arts, as well as volunteering with various cultural awareness programs. She discovered the joy of painting animal portraiture after witnessing the powerful love between humans and their furry friends. The artist in her knew, that she could help preserve a moment in time for those same humans.

Yoko prefers to use oils for her paintings in realism and tries to focus on the energy and character of her subjects. The purpose of this is to capture the unique individuality of each personality. Her ability to communicate this through the canvas is a testament to her skill as an artist.

Painting commission is available through this site.
